Before You Choose — Read These

Two guides explain the underlying numbers this module builds on: how many clips a job actually needs (clips per m²), and how a first container is best filled (container loading guide). If you are comparing systems rather than scenarios, the system comparison page lists all 12 side by side.

Tile Leveling Solutions FAQ

The decisions this module exists to answer.

How do I choose a tile leveling solution?
Match your tile thickness and format to a system: standard 3–14mm tile uses clips + wedges + spacers; 14–24mm large format needs thick-tile clips or screw/spin systems; heavy slabs and stone need the high pull of a reusable leveler plus a suction lifter. If the tile is already laid with lippage, shims correct it while the adhesive is workable.
What is the difference between clips and a spin or screw system?
Clips are single-use and hold tile edges flat during cure — fastest and most economical per m². Spin (Spin Doctor) and reusable screw-cap systems apply calibrated tension and can be reused, so they suit thick porcelain, slabs and premium projects where pull-up force matters.
How many clips do I need per square metre?
For a 60×60 tile, roughly 4 clips per tile works out to about 11 clips per m². Large-format planks need a clip every 10–12in along long edges to control bowing.
Can a leveling system fix an uneven floor?
No — leveling systems fix the height difference between adjacent tiles, not an unlevel substrate. The floor must be ground, patched or levelled within the tile manufacturer’s tolerance before tiling.
